A tribute to Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather
Puffin India in association with Grandmama’s Café
is delighted to announce the release of
About the book:
He’ll make you a cake you can’t refuse . . .
Everyone adores Don Cannoli. His pastry is the stuff of legend, and people wait in line for hours for a bite of his cakes.
One day, something dramatic—and bright orange—happens, and this means big trouble. Now it’s up to the Don’s
children to save the day. With the big Cake-Off competition round the corner, can the kids rally around in time to uphold the family name?
And who can possibly fit into the Don’s oversized apron?
Written entirely in limericks, The Best Baker in the World is a wild and whimsical
tale that takes on one of the greatest films ever made—The Godfather.
About Raja Sen:
Raja Sen is one of India’s most widely read film critics, writing for Rediff, NDTV, Mint
Lounge and various national and international publications. He has become known for his
savage honesty. Those who read him, therefore, believe he’s the last person who should write a children’s book.
Those who know him have been waiting. This is his first book. He lives in Bombay with his wife and his action figures.
About Vishal K Bharadwaj:
Once upon a time, Vishal K. Bharadwaj was a three-year-old who invented fanciful creatures
to draw on his home’s walls, with his parents’ blessing. This dangerous precedent led to an
adulthood doing much the same, in the fields of design, illustration, animation and (most
recently) developing and baking cake recipes. It has been an eventful life of making, and life
is what you make of it. Sometimes it starts by drawing on walls.
All the drawings in this book were coloured and completed using Inkscape, The GIMP and
other open-source applications and operating systems. Vishal supports the use of free and
open-source software as tools for use by professionals of all stripes and spots.
